alle hätte u[nd] mir [dann?] meiner Familie
gegenüber auch keine Vorwürfe zu machen
brauche, wenn ich wirklich einmal
Typhus beka[e]me.
Zimmer 11. Es ist nicht ausgeschlossen, daβ
ein anderer unterwegs durchgebrannt ist,
oder auch, daβ das Arbeits Kommando
Artillerie-depot den fehlenden Mann
meldet, dann lieg ich drin, deβhalb
meldete ich den Mann. Dieser bekommt
nun leider 3 Tage Arrest, von General
Translation:
takes roll at immunisation was apparently prepared
to say that I had been immunised without
being personally present. But I advised myself
to take the shot, as I'd then
have all of them and wouldn't need to berate
myself in front of my family
if I really did get
typhoid. So, now I've got that over with,
and this time in the right pectoral.
Now I've slept at least 2 hours and
am not as nauseous and unwell as
last time, but the side of my chest
is swollen and painful, but it is bearable.
Had to report yesterday
that one man broke away from
the NCO in charge of his work brigade
"Artillery Depot" – 1 [...] corporal, 100 prisoners.
Over [...] of the platform,
and in fact he ran back to the barracks
because he didn't feel like
working. He was summoned to me
and his name is Victor Ansaux, Block IV
Room 11. It is not unthinkable that
another man escaped on their way,
or that the work brigade
"Artillery Depot" could report
the missing man, then I'm implicated, that's why
I reported the man. Now, unfortunately,
he'll get 3 days general confinement
