Dear Miss Simpson,
Just a brief note to inform you that I was the fortunate recipient of the pair of sox in which were enclosed your little note. Please accept my best thanks for same and my warm appreciation of the spirit which prompted your gift. The comfort derived from the wear of these sox is only equalled by the great pleasure I drew from a realization of the kindly feelings which actuated you in knitting them, and I can assure you that this also expresses the thoughts of the other fortunate boys who received similar gifts.
