I had the first letter from Paris some weeks ago: wonderful to hear after five whole years. Did you find all your furniture and books in good condition -- and have you got all of them round you now? What is the next for John? Did he go the the Far East about Christmas as you expected? Did you hear what Eddington died of? Surely he was very young to die The Penicillin man is her now, lecturing for two weeks, then going on to Helskinki -- arranged by the British Council. How nice it will be when people are allowed to send photographs out of England again! Conrad must be completely different looking now from the very wise and grave photo I have of him.
